But, I’m getting really sick of spam and entitled sales people who seem to think they’re doing you a favor by offering their product. If you want to sell me something; don’t. I aim to be a sales persons worst nightmare, I intentionally waste their time and piss them off because they haven’t taken the time to read this page.
If you “work with a team of developers that can solve all my problems”. Don’t bother connecting. I am certain you turn out buggy code, do not adequately comment/document your code, do not adequately elicit requirements, and working with 10-year-old technologies. I’m a senior software engineer, which makes in extremely insulting to offer to do the job I’m currently doing but for less money. Yet amazingly, spammy sales people actually send me messages offering to develop software for me. It’s analogous to trying to sell a Pinto to a Ferrari mechanic or sell a “gourmet BigMac” to a Michelin star chef.

- You need to send me a genuine, personal message in your connection request.
- If any message you send me appears “spammy” or automated or generic or copied/pasted I’ll likely delete it and block you.
- Don’t lie in your connection request. If you say you viewed my LinkedIn profile I can see if that is true or not.
- I’m genuinely keen to provide value to my connections and if you want to connect with me you have to provide some value to me. Connecting with me solely to sell me something is not valuable.
